Kabuto Mushi Uta Tairyu Studio

$5.99

Kabuto Mushi Uta (Song of the Rhino Beetle) is a vibrant composition for shakuhachi, created in July 2020. Inspired by the beauty of a newly acquired flute by one of my students, the piece draws imagery from the mighty kabuto mushi, or Japanese rhinoceros beetle—a creature cherished by children for its strength and playful battles. The work evokes the spirit of these beetles, not just in Japan but around the world, as they engage in their epic contests. I hope this piece brings to life the joy and fascination of these iconic creatures.
