Miura Kindo 2.0 Shakuhachi — Late Period, Jiari
Offered here is a Miura Kindo 2.0 shakuhachi, made by Miura Kindo (三浦琴童), widely regarded as one of the greatest shakuhachi makers who ever lived, and by many considered the greatest. His instruments are benchmarks of the modern shakuhachi world and are played by leading performers internationally.
This flute bears Miura Kindo’s later-period hanko. It has it all, power, nuance, and balance fully converge. It is a jiari instrument that truly can do it all: honkyoku, sankyoku, contemporary, solo, and ensemble performance.
The flute has a huge, warm voice with abundant color, exceptional depth in the lower register, and a vibrant, flexible upper range. It responds effortlessly to meri–kari work, supports subtle breath control, and projects while retaining complexity and refinement. It has been used for live performances and professional recordings.
Condition is excellent overall. There is one hairline crack, which is stable and does not affect playability or structural integrity. The flute was meticulously examined by Yōzan Hikichi, confirming its stability and health as a player’s instrument.
This is not simply a flute, but a significant piece of shakuhachi history—a chance to own and play a mature work by a legendary maker whose instruments continue to define the highest standard.
It comes with a kimono bag, leather cap, and plastic sleeve.
