This is a special Yozan custom model.
this particular flute was crafted and designed after a very wonderful Miura Kindo Jiari from the early 1920’s.
The bore Profile is different than the standard Yozan and this shakuhachi mimics the same shape and contour as some of the early Jiari flutes from the 1920s. All of the finger holes are custom cut, and have been undercut to provide a variety of subtle tone colors that is commonly not found in modern Jiari flutes.
This shakuhachi is made with thick size 8 smoked bamboo. It also has a three ring silver middle joint binding.
The utaguchi is Blackwater Buffalo horn backed with 24 karat gold.
The tuning of the flute also mimics the early style of Shakuhachi, tōwari. Despite it being tōwari, it is very easy to play both the classical repertoire and the modern repertoire.
